Scholarships for students from Nepal and International Students

The University of Sheffield is pleased to offer a range of scholarships to students from Nepal who show exceptional academic potential and are starting their studies at the University of Sheffield in September 2015.

Undergraduate Scholarships (BA, BSc, BEng, MEng)

Faculty Undergraduate Scholarships

We are pleased to offer scholarships to all international students starting their studies in the Faculties of Engineering, Science, Arts and the School of Law in September 2015:

Engineering International Scholarships 2015

We are pleased to offer Engineering International Scholarships to all international undergraduate students commencing their studies in the Faculty of Engineering in September 2015.

The scholarships are worth £2,500 per year each.

Eligibility and Award Criteria:

  • You must hold an offer of a study place and begin your undergraduate studies in September 2015 in one of the following departments: Aerospace Engineering, Automatic Control & Systems Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical & Biological Engineering, Civil & Structural Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic & Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
  • You must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
  • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying via Distance Learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
  • Part-time students will receive the full value of a one year of scholarship split pro rata over the duration of an equivalent single full-time academic year.
  • The scholarships will be awarded automatically – no application is required in the first or any subsequent years.
  • The scholarships will be awarded unconditionally in the first year of studies. Receipt of the award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of a 60% overall average mark in the previous academic year.
  • The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction only.
  • The scholarships will not be applied during any optional or compulsory study abroad periods or year in industry.
  • The Scholarships will not be awarded where partial funding is applicable from an external body* and there is an agreement already in place between the external body and the University of Sheffield to offer a tuition fee discount to the student.
  • The Alumni Reward can be awarded in conjunction with other University of Sheffield scholarships as long as the individual does not become fully funded, for tuition fee purposes, as a result of the sum of these awards.

Science International Scholarships 2015

We are pleased to offer Science International Scholarships to all international undergraduate students commencing their studies in the Faculty of Science in September 2015.

The scholarships are worth £2,500 per year each.

Eligibility and Award Criteria:

  • You must hold an offer of a study place and begin your undergraduate studies in September 2015 in one of the following departments: Animal and Plant Sciences, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Physics and Astronomy, Psychology
  • You must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
  • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying via Distance Learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
  • Part-time students will receive the full value of a one year of scholarship split pro rata over the duration of an equivalent single full-time academic year.
  • The scholarships will be awarded automatically – no application is required in the first or any subsequent years.

Arts International Scholarships 2015

We are pleased to offer Arts International Scholarships to all international undergraduate students commencing their studies in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in September 2015.

The scholarships are worth £2,000 per year each.

Eligibility and Award Criteria:

  • You must hold an offer of a study place and begin your undergraduate studies in September 2015 in one of the following departments: Archaeology, Biblical Studies, History, Philosophy, Music, School of English, School of Languages and Cultures.
  • You must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
  • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying via Distance Learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
  • Part-time students will receive the full value of a one year of scholarship split pro rata over the duration of an equivalent single full-time academic year.

Postgraduate Scholarships (MA, MSc)

The University offers a range of scholarships for Nepalese students who show exceptional academic potential starting a postgraduate Taught Masters programme at the University of Sheffield in September 2015.

Nepal Sheffield Scholarships 2015

We are pleased to offer the Nepal Sheffield Scholarship to Nepal students starting a Taught Masters programme in September 2015.

The scholarships are:

  • £2,000 if your tuition fees are between £14,500 and £16,500

or

  • £2,500 if your tuition fees are £16,501 and upwards

Unless

  • You are a student of MSc in Global Marketing Management, or any of our MSc Nanofolio courses jointly run with the University of Leeds. Under these circumstances your Scholarship will be £1,250 only, the £2,000 and £2,500 discounts above will not apply.

Eligibility and Award Criteria:

  • You must hold an offer of a study place and begin your postgraduate Taught Masters programme in September 2015.
  • You must be a national of, or permanently domiciled of Nepal.
  • You must be self-funded and classified as overseas for fee purposes.
  • The scholarships will be awarded automatically – no application is required.
  • The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction only.
  • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying via Distance Learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
  • Part-time students will receive the full value of a one year of scholarship split pro rata over the duration of an equivalent single full-time academic year.
  • The scholarships will not be awarded where partial funding is applicable from an external body* and there is an agreement already in place between the external body and the University of Sheffield to offer a tuition fee discount to the student.
  • The Scholarship is for each year of the Taught Masters Programme, however it is not available for each year of a New Route PhD course. The scholarship is only available for the first year of study.

The University of Sheffield does not offer research studentships specifically for Nepalese students. There are, however, studentships and funding for which students from Nepal can apply.
